This is a prose RPG, currently open for applications. The game itself should start in about two or three weeks (Mid-December), sooner if people are quick about applications. Welcome to Poveglia!
Please read all the information given about the island and the game before applying. Most of the important information is linked below, and kept at Poveglia Files. Please friend povegliafiles after applying, you will be expected to be familiar with any new information that is posted there.

POVEGLIA IS HAVING A MASSIVE CLEANUP! if your pups name was deleted and you plan on continuing play, just email the mod account and we'll talk about it. Most of the pups havent been played in three months or more, and that is why they were removed.

History
The RPG is set on an actual island, using the island's actual history, but it's just the springboard for the game. Facts can be found here. All the rest is fiction.

The School
Poveglia Academy is a secondary school, mostly founded on the British system, but the English-Bulgarian headmaster is quite eccentric, and so is the school. Students are ages 11-17, and about twenty students per class, allowances for more or less in some years.
There is a generator providing electricity, but when it goes out (which is often), students are expected to carry candles and matches with them at all times. Personal electronics will work sometimes. PDAs, cellphones, or mp3 players NEVER work. CD players, flashlights or similar older equipment will work unreliably. There is no satellite or radio signal on the island, even though there is perfect satellite and radio signal anywhere directly off the island. Questions? Ask a mod.

Applications
Students
Boys only. There's a reason this is a boy's-only school: Boys are more interesting with ghosts, because they're stupider. Girls are much more likely to avoid active ghost areas. Boys will charge right in. Applications for students are most encouraged and most likely to be approved.

With 150 students, the school employs a small staff of cooks, maintenance and cleaning. Applications for staff are also encouraged.

Teachers
Hand-picked by the eccentric headmaster, these are likely to be a bit odd themselves. Applications for teachers are encouraged, but will require more talent and experience to be approved.

Ghosts
The otherworldly inhabitants of Poveglia. There are Ghosts of Ill Intent, Neutral Intent, and Gentle Intent, all of whom may experience varying degrees of coherence and stability of form. Ghosts must always be written passively--we don't want to know about how the ghost is feeling or thinking, we want to know how the ghost is seen by others. Ghost activity does not exist unless observed by one of the living. Ghost applications are also encouraged, but they will suffer the strictest moderation before being approved.

Writing samples are required for the first character application. They may be waived for subsequent applications, except for ghost characters. Ghost applications must ALWAYS have a writing sample, focused on the ghost in question.
Multiple characters are allowed and encouraged, as long as existing characters are not neglected. No supernatural or fantasy elements allowed for characters (your character cannot be psychic in any way). Mary Sues will not be accepted.

Once your character is accepted, you'll be expected to make a character journal for them. Using your personal journal to make in-character posts is not allowed.
